The staff includes: Ph.D. M.O. Katrenko, Ph.D. L.V. Nakashidze, associate professors S.O. Bilogurov, S.G. Bondarenko, V.L. Bucharskyi, O.E. Zolotko, O.M. Ponomarev. All teachers have an excellent school of aviation and rocket design bureaus and factories or experience on scholarly research laboratories.

Jet Propulsion System Design Department provides training in two specialties:

We have undergraduate, master, postgraduate courses in our Department.
Department engine is one of the first and oldest in the Physical-Technical Institute. It was founded in 1953. For more than sixty years of history of the our Depatrment excellent laboratory facilities and methodical basement for students’ education have been created through the efforts of 2 academics, 1 corresponding member, 11 professors, 56 associate professors and teachers.

Nowadays the Department has 5 designs laboratories equipped at a modern level, including almost all well-known Ukrainian rocket engines, including in sedimentary-air engine for the manned Moon program.

Also the Department has a sub-division at the base enterprise SE "DB "Yuzhnoye". There senior students study and pass all kinds of practices.

Technology practice is an important component of the educational process
The foreign students from Germany, Brazil, India, Kazakhstan, North and Central Africa are educating in our Department. Department of Space Technology established in the cooperation with the L. Gumilev Eurasian National University. Our professors work there by tour method.
Basic courses for studying by students are: programming, CAD design, thermodynamics and heat transfer, gas dynamics, scoop machines, theoretical mechanics, mechanics of solids, low-temperature plasma physics, computer science, the theory of automatic control, the theory of combustion and explosion, rocket fuels, construction liquid, solid, detonation rocket engines, electric propulsion, piston engines.

Students on specialty "Electrical Power, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics" study other than general technical sciences structure and operation of modern electric power lines, power substations, ventilation and heating systems, designing solar cells, wind turbines, heliocollector, heat pumps, biogas installations, various heat generators.
During training, students complete courseworks on the design of the combustion chamber, mixing (calculation of centrifugal, axial and two-component nozzles), cooling the combustion chamber, the design of centrifugal pumps and turbines, LRE launch and others.
Graduates of our Department are a classic mechanical and electrical engineers with enhanced thermodynamic heating engineering and training. The demand for such specialists in the world is only growing. Feature of studying in the our Department is that students study the processes that occur in the most difficult thermal stress units, their mathematical description and solution methods with the help of modern computer programs. Organized in such a way training allows graduates to adapt successfully in other areas of technology related to energy conservation, alternative energy, and this valve-conditioning, insulation, refrigeration equipment.
More than 4.5 thousand people have been graduated at our Department since 1956. 75% engine department of SE DB "Yuzhnoye" staffed meant of graduates from our Department. But our graduates successfully work not only in the institutions of the space industry of Ukraine. They are also work on engineering positions around the world, from China to USA.
