The main directions of scientific researches:
- Theoretical-methodological, historiographic, knowledge of sources and archeological aspects of Ukrainian history;
- Social history of Ukraine XVII-XVIII century;
- Public-political and ethnic-national history of Ukraine at the end of XVIII-at the beginning of XX century;
- Agrarian history of Ukraine XX century;
- Historical-regional ethnography and regional aspects of Ukrainian history.
Structural subsection of the chair is an archaeological and ethnographic laboratory.
