Department of Pedagogy and Special Education

Nikolenko Lyudmyla Mykolayivna – Head of the Department, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor; methodologist, senior teacher.

The Department of Pedagogy and Special Education provides training in:

- specialty 016 “Special Education”:
first (bachelor's) degree – the educational program "Special Education", the educational program «Special education: Oligophrenic Pedagogy and Speech Therapy»
second (master's) degree – the educational program "Special Education"
the third (scientific) level – the educational program "Special Education"

- specialty 011 “Educational, Pedagogical Sciences”:
the second (master's) degree – the educational program "Higher School Pedagogy"

In addition, the Department participates in training of higher education students of DNU of the first (bachelor's) second (master's) and third (scientific) level of specialty 014 Secondary education (by subject specialties), providing the pedagogical component educational-professional and educational-scientific programs.

The educational process of the Department of Pedagogy and Special Education is provided by 12 main scientific and pedagogical workers, including: two Doctors of Pedagogical Sciences; six candidates of pedagogical sciences, associate professors; senior lecturer and two assistant teachers, who are receiving the third level of higher education in post-graduate school of the Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology named after Mykola Yarmachenko of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.

The Department closely cooperates with institutions of special and general secondary education of the city of Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region, inclusive resource centers, which act as reliable and active partners in the practical training of applicants. Among them: “Dnipropetrovsk Regional Methodological Resource Center” (the director is Tatyana Dryuk), "Inclusive Resource Center №2" (the director is Yevhenia Shalikhman), “Training and Rehabilitation Center “Gorlytsia” (the director is Svitlana Lebid), “Dnipropetrovsk Training and Rehabilitation Center № 10” (the director is Larysa Harniuk), “Multi-profile training and rehabilitation center №6” (the director is Halyna Megega), “Secondary school № 10 named after І.І.Manchuria” (the director is Valentina Ivleva), "Specialised school No. 67 of ecological and economic profile (director - Tamara Kovaleva),“Special School №12” (the director is Vira Kupras), “Special School “Chance” (the director is Kristina Torop) and others.

Harniuk Larysa Hryhorivna – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Director of the municipal educational institution "Dnipropetrovsk Training and Rehabilitation Center № 10" of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council.
Research fields: problems of education and upbringing of deaf and hearing-impaired children.

Kupras Vira Vasylivna – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department, Director of the municipal educational institution "Special School № 12" of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council.
Research fields: education and upbringing of children with visual impairments, psychological and pedagogical support of blind young children in a special school.

Antibura Yuliya Alexandrovna – senior lecturer of the Department; Deputy Director for educational and methodological work of the communal educational institution "Dnipropetrovsk Educational and Rehabilitation Center No. 10" of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council.
Research interests: correctional and developmental activities for the development of auditory-visual-tactile perception of speech and the formation of the pronunciation of students with neurosensory deafness.

Vasylenko Iryna Mykolayivna – Senior Teacher, speech therapist specialist, speech pathologist-specialist, the highest qualification category of public educational institution “General boarding school with a special department for special needs children – child development center “Harmony”of Kamyansk city council.
Research fields: the formation of the communicative component in older preschoolers with speech delay.

Isachenko Viktoriya Oleksiyivna – Senior Lecturer of the Department; Leading Speech Therapist of the Dnipro City Council Health Department.
Mastered effective forms of special needs help and rehabilitation process, skills of differential diagnosis of complex speech disorders, creatively uses advanced speech therapy experience, innovative achievements of speech therapy science.
Research fields: effective forms of special needs help and rehabilitation process in complex speech disorders.

Cherneha Asya Oleksandrivna – Senior Lecturer of the Department, teacher-speech therapist of the municipal educational institution "Multidisciplinary training and rehabilitation center "Star" of Dnipro regional council.
Research fields: diagnosis and correction of written speech disorders in junior and high school students.

4. Providing social and pedagogical support to individuals with special educational needs.
5. The latest technologies of pedagogical interaction.
6. Modern directions of speech therapy practice.
7. Problems of diagnostics and correction of children's speech development.
8. Special education for children with mental and physical disabilities.
9. Problems of diagnosis, and speech therapy for children’s speech development.
10. Education and personality development of a child with special educational needs.

The Department conducts research on "Barrierlessness in education as a condition for ensuring the mobility of participants in the educational process" (State registration number: 0122U001781).

Since 2014, the Department has published a collection of scientific papers "Actual problems of pedagogy" (ISBN 978-617-645-465-6), which covers current issues of theory and practice of higher education and special education. This is a scientific publication that presents the results of scientific and practical research of higher education seekers, practitioners, scholars on the history of pedagogy, educational methodology, practical and methodological aspects of teaching and education, improving education quality, professional competence of future teachers.

Students are always involved in volunteering at the Center for Social Initiatives and Volunteering of DNU, which cooperates with NGOs "Childhood Angel", "Give Joy", "Youth of Ukraine Together", «Tamarisk», «Мartin-club»; international charitable organizations ICF "Caritas Ukraine", ICF "Ukrainian Women's Fund", ICF "Child Welfare"; Charitable organization "Unity".
