The department trains specialists in the course of 103 «Earth Sciences» (educational program «Hydrometeorology» and «Hydrology»). Students receive education and qualification level of «Bachelor» and educational level of «Master».

In recent years, scientists of the department prepared and published two monographs, one manual and four science papers in the international scientific journals, registered in scientometric databases. In addition, more than
15 science papers were published in leading scientific journals of Ukraine. Now the scientific activity of the department is connected with the study of the formation of hydro-chemical, hydro-ecological and hydrological regimes of water bodies of Dnepropetrovsk region. The scientists of the department have defended three dissertations; one of them is a doctorate dissertation.

Students of the department of Hydrometeorology and geoecology are actively involved in scientific and public life as the department and the faculty as a whole. They take part in the National competition in hydrometeorology course and the international conferences at various levels.
