The scientific subject of the Research Laboratory of Biochemistry is directed within the tradition of the neurochemical school https://www.dnu.dp.ua/view/naukovi_shkoli; https://www.dnu.dp.ua/view/fbio   to determine molecular biochemical mechanisms of learning, memory, adaptation of neurons and glial cells of the brain to stressogenic factors and pathogens. The neurospecific proteins and glycosaminoglycan-binding components as a key regulatory mechanisms of mammalian brain are studied. RLB uses methods of protein isolation, assessment of their functional capacity, as well as determination of biochemical markers of geno-cytotoxicity and neurotoxicity of the environment, indicators of oxidative stress, carbonyl stress and end products of glycation, apoptosis, microsomal transformation, and hormonal activity using spectrophotometry, enzyme immunoassays, and others. Along with this, studies of the liver, kidneys, pancreas, red blood system and bone marrow under the influence of xenobiotics are quite widely conducted.
