The main scientific direction of the RL is a comprehensive study of biodiversity, its role in the environment, the impact of various environmental factors on the current biological diversity, a wide range of issues on nature protection and its rational use. Scientific and practical directions of the RL are the following: creation of innovative systems and means of environmental monitoring, development of novel criteria for assessing the impact on the environment, creation of objects of the nature reserve fund, development and implementation of modern means of biological protection of the environment, etc.
