Head of Research Laboratory of Physiology and Molecular Biology of Plants – Head of the Department of Plant Physiology and Introduction, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Yuriy Lykholat, Phone: +380677614005; E-mail: lykholat2006@ukr.net
The main subject of scientific research of the laboratory is the study of physiological and biochemical processes of plants with the aim of using their phytochemical potential, antioxidant properties in the conditions of the steppe zone in the directions of preservation and expansion of the genetic fund of economically useful plants and valuable fruit crops, optimal use of plant raw materials, preservation of phytodiversity under technogenic conditions transformed environment and the development of physiological bases for the introduction of plants under unfavorable climatic conditions. The activities of the laboratory are aimed at solving theoretical and applied problems of the physiology of plant resistance, increasing the quantity and improving the quality of plant bioresources, in particular at identifying physiological and biochemical indicators of plant tolerance to a complex of environmental stress factors, at elucidating the resource potential of plant raw materials with a high content of secondary metabolites and determining antibacterial and antifungal effects of plant extracts with the identification of the component composition of biologically active compounds in them by the gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis.
