The Research Laboratory of Terrestrial Ecology, Forest Soil Science and Land Reclamation (RL) performs both fundamental and applied scientific research in the fields of Biology, Ecology, Environmental Protection and Rational Use of Natural Resources and provides scientific services to third-party organizations, legal entities and individuals within the fields of its scientific activity.
RL works to solve the problems of the impact of anthropogenic factors and climate changes on native and artificial ecosystems; biodiversity conservation; prevention of phytoinvasias, desertification and soil degradation processes; disturbed land reclamation; restoration of natural vegetation, including forest ecosystems; creation of sustainable multi-functional green spaces in suburban and urban areas of the Steppe zone; development of a nature reserve fund, ecological network of Ukraine and the Emerald network of Europe; preparation of regional Red lists and Red books; green infrastructure development in Ukrainian cities; optimization of environmental functions and ecosystem services of green spaces of urban ecosystems in the context of global climate change and anthropogenic pressure.
