Rector of DNU Sergiy Okovytyy was elected a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

Rector of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University Sergiy Okovytyy was elected a Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, specializing in Computer Modeling of Physical Processes, Machine Learning.

Sergiy Ivanovych Okovytyy is an Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Dnipropetrovs'k Region, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor. Professor Okovytyy’s research is related to computer modeling of the physical and chemical properties of molecules and intermolecular complexes using molecular mechanics, quantum chemistry, and molecular docking.

On March 21, 2024, Professor Sergiy Okovytyy presented the results of his scientific work at the scientific session of the General Meeting of the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

On April 25, 2024, a session of the General Meeting of the NAS of Ukraine was held, during which full members (Academicians) and Corresponding Members of the NAS of Ukraine were elected. For 28 vacancies of Academicians, 74 applicants were nominated and registered, i.e. 2.6 per seat. There were 246 applicants for 75 vacancies of Corresponding Members, or 3.3 per seat.

Following a secret ballot, 28 academicians and 74 Corresponding Members of the NAS of Ukraine were elected.
