All-Ukrainian Student Scientific Conference «Ukraine on the Mental Map of Europe: Historical Experience, Present, Prospects»

On May 2-3, the All-Ukrainian Student Scientific Conference «Ukraine on the Mental Map of Europe: Historical Experience, Present, and Prospects» was held at Oles Honchar Dnipro National University with the participation of the Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum of Dnipro. The event was held within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project «European multiculturalism as an experience and a path for Ukraine's European integration» with the financial support of the European Union.

It is important that the organizing committee of the conference included representatives of young scholars and students of DNU. The conference was held under martial law in a mixed format – in person and by correspondence – but aroused interest among students who are interested in research and already have some of its results for public presentation and discussion. The program included 64 reports from participants representing higher education institutions in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mariupol, Nizhyn, and Kharkiv. These are students of various specialties and educational programs – history, geography, international relations, philology, philosophy, natural and technical sciences.

The forum was opened with introductory remarks by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of History Dmytro Archireiskyi, greetings from the Rector of DNU Sergiy Okovytyy and Vice-Rector for Research Oleh Marenkov. Experienced scholars were invited to speak at the plenary session: Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of World History and International Relations of Zaporizhzhia National University Oleksandr Davletov (report «International dialogue and the beginning of modern textbook creation in Ukraine: historical experience of using European multiculturalism (late 90s of the 20th century – beginning of the 21st century)»; candidate of historical sciences, associate professor, head of the Department of World History of the Dnipro National University Oles Honchar Albert Wenger (report: «Understanding Ukraine: the oral history project of the Czech Academy of Sciences «De-Russianization of Ukraine in the 1990s – early 2000s»), as well as Margarita Stoyanova, a third-year student of the History Faculty of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (report «Representations of Ukraine and its past through the prism of international exhibition projects (2022-2024)».

As part of the conference on May 3, a round table was held on the topic «Museums and museum workers in preserving the multicultural face of Ukraine in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war» on the basis of the Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum of Dnipro, where the moderator was Valerya Lavrenko.
