In total, the 2025 edition of the Webometrics ranking, conducted by Cybermetrics Lab, includes nearly 32,000 higher education institutions worldwide. The ranking assesses universities based on their presence and impact in the digital space. In Ukraine, 256 leading universities were evaluated in the first edition of 2025, demonstrating their global competitiveness.

The January edition of Webometrics results has been published on the Figshare online research platform, which promotes open science principles and enhances transparency in scientific materials.

The 2025 ranking methodology is based on webometric and bibliometric indicators collected from reliable sources such as Majestic, Google Scholar, and Scimago-Scopus. Web data was gathered in early January, while bibliometric analysis covered the period from 2019 to 2023.

For over 20 years, the Webometrics Ranking has highlighted the openness of universities in providing access to knowledge. It remains one of the most authoritative global rankings, assessing universities based on their web presence, research impact, and transparency in education. The ranking serves as a crucial indicator of an institution’s effectiveness and its contribution to scientific and technological advancement.

The Webometrics methodology is designed to enhance universities' visibility in the digital space by evaluating:

• Visibility (50%) – the number of unique external sources linking to the university's website.

• Openness (10%) – citation impact of academic profiles in Google Scholar (Transparent Ranking: Top Universities by Google Scholar Citations).

• Excellence (40%) – the number of publications in high-impact international journals indexed in Scopus between 2019 and 2023.

With its strong performance in the 2025 Webometrics ranking, DNU continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in higher education and research, demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence and global visibility.
