In November 2024, a representative delegation from the Dnipro region, headed by the head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration Serhii Lysak, worked in various institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia. The delegation included heads of institutions in various fields: medicine, education, culture, local government, business, NGOs, etc. The visit of the delegation from Ukraine was initiated by the Land Government of this self-governing state of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Rector of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Sergiy Okovytyy participated in the work of the educational delegation.
The official part of the visit began with a conference in Cologne dedicated to cooperation between North Rhine-Westphalia and Ukraine. Nathanael Liminski, Minister of Federal, European and International Affairs and Media of North Rhine-Westphalia and Head of the State Chancellery, Serhiy Lysak, Head of the Dnipropetrovs'k Regional State Administration, and other officials from Ukraine and Germany took part in the panel discussion “The Role of Horizontal Partnerships in the Recovery of Ukraine”.
The Rector of DNU Sergiy Okovytyy joined the panel discussion “Ukraine-North Rhine-Westphalia-EU: Opportunities for International Funding in Science and Research”. He briefly described the joint projects between DNU and scientific and educational institutions in Germany that have been implemented in recent years and those that are currently underway. The Rector thanked the DAAD Lectorate, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, Bielefeld University, University of Tübingen and other partners for their support during the difficult war years.

Sergiy Okovytyy also outlined the areas of cooperation with 16 universities in North Rhine-Westphalia, which were proposed by the faculties of our university after familiarizing themselves with their specifics and scientific schools.
