In November 2024, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University and DTEK Dnipro Power Grids JSC took a significant step by introducing elements of dual education.
This collaboration became possible following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2024. Just one month later, the partnership officially commenced with an inaugural lecture for DNU students, organized by the university's Center for Career Development and Cooperation with Business, led by Hanna Nyameschuk.
The lecture featured Viktor Bondarenko, Head of DTEK's Personnel Training and Education Center, and expert Dmytro Datsenko, who introduced the students to DTEK’s strategic enterprise. They provided an in-depth overview of the company’s operations and its advanced capabilities, focusing on the tasks involved in maintaining power grids.
Students also learned about the Dual Education Project, a unique initiative recognized among the top case studies on the Diia.Business state portal for entrepreneurs. This project has been celebrated as a successful model for providing training and employment opportunities for Ukrainian youth, even amidst a full-scale war.
Since its launch in 2019, DTEK's Dual Education program has trained 311 Ukrainian students, with over half (161 students) securing employment at the company. Despite the challenges posed by the war, the project has persisted, enabling dual-education participants to work as engineers, electricians, controllers, and customer service specialists.
Today, as Ukraine faces immense challenges, DTEK places particular emphasis on preparing young professionals for careers in the energy sector. This initiative aims to train a new generation of power engineers capable of supporting the current workforce at the energy front. Their role will be critical not only in restoring infrastructure damaged by the war but also in building a modern energy network to underpin Ukraine's recovery and economic growth.
