Opportunities of DAAD programs

Students majoring in Medical Diagnostics and Treatment Technologies joined the educational initiatives of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The future medical laboratory technicians took advanced courses in Medical Genetics and Microbes, Viruses and Infections, which correspond to their laboratory specialization.

These courses were developed on the initiative and with the participation of the University of Tübingen (Germany), with the cooperation of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

Three 4th-year students: Yulia Kuzmenko, Valeria Dudnik and Serhii Khodus joined the courses, which lasted from mid-September to the end of November 2024 and required significant effort from the students.

The courses paid considerable attention to modern molecular techniques used in diagnostic laboratories, which are just being prepared for mass implementation in the system of medical laboratories in Ukraine, which is currently going through a new stage of development.

The courses also helped to update knowledge about the human genome and diseases associated with its disorders.

The knowledge gained is also valuable for preparing for the Unified State Qualification Exam, which this year will be taken by students after completing their bachelor's degree, as the components of the USQE include all subjects covered in the courses.

Oles Honchar Dnipro National University is sincerely grateful to the program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the financial and educational support of students of Ukraine and our university, who, in difficult war conditions, can receive additional lectures and practical classes in the basic disciplines of modern biology within the framework of the project “Advanced inter-university life science block for Ukrainian biology students”/"Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis”. http://lifesciencescourse.org

Motivated students have a chance to receive scholarship support. The course “Higher Functions of the Central Nervous System” has just been completed, prepared by a team of project teachers, including DNU professors.

Among the students of the course, 10 students from Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (Faculty of Biology and Ecology and Faculty of Psychology and Special Education) received high-quality course teaching and additional scholarships.

The university staff is also sincerely grateful for the free use of a Bluetti EB55 computer charging station sent from the University of Tübingen.
