At the end of academic year Dnipro foreign students demonstrated knowledge of Ukrainian and Russian languages according to the annual contest of reciters ‘Peace, spring, love’ in Students’ Palace of DNU.
Department of Translation and Linguistic Training of Foreigners in DNU have been conducting this popular contest among the students for more than 10 years.
In general foreign students from Angola, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Guinea, Korea, Morocco and Turkmenistan took place in the contest. Olena Panchenko, professor, the head of Department of Translation and Linguistic Training of Foreigners in DNU noted: “The main feature of this year contest of reciters is that we decided to invite students-translators who study English and German. So there will be wide list of nominations”.
Due to the contest students have the opportunity to communicate with each other, evaluate themselves, also they can demonstrate how they have studied languages. During the evaluation of performance specialists of DNU, teachers of preparatory departments of other universities of the city, who were competent jury, consider such criteria as artistry, expressiveness and maintenance of verbal rules.
On the contest there were filled with deep content poetry of Lina Kostenko declared by students from Colombia and China, Yevgen Yevtushenko's poem ‘Dai Bog’ performed by student from Guinea, expressive scene ‘Mukha-tsokotukha’ of Kornei Chukovsky in performance of Turkmen and Mongols. Also a song ‘Obiymy mene’ of the band «Okean Elzy» under the guitar was soulfully performed by Morocco young man.
The participants shared the impressions about contest tasks and study in Ukraine willingly. One of them Sultan Esenmuradov from Turkmenistan who is studying in DNU at Department of International Economics, said that together with students from Ecuador and China they would represent a scene-humoresque of Pavlo Glazoviy ‘Yak Kuzmu provchyla zhinka yoho myla’. He has known Russian since his childhood, so there are no communicative problems. Student’s brother told him about good study preparation and solid knowledge, advising him to study in DNU.
